We had asked Naema to do some research on Laos during our stay. This post has been entirely researched, redacted and translated by her.
Sabaidee! (Hello!)
The Laos flag has two red stripes, one blue stripe, and a white circle. But why?
The red stripes represent the blood of Lao people during the struggle for independence from the French.
The blue stripe represents the Mekong river (although it is not really blue).
The white circle shows the justice and unity of Lao people under the leadership of the Lao people’s revolutionary party and the country’s bright future. It is also said to be a full moon on the Mekong.
