Laos: girls, what did you think?

We asked 6 questions to the girls to find out their thoughts about Laos.

Here is what they said.

1. Which city did you prefer visiting?

Naema: I loved all the locations we have been to.

Lana: I loved Pak Beng where we spent a day with the elephants.

2. What was your favorite meal?

Naema: I loved the laap (minced meat with basil) and the fried rice from Kung’s café in Vientiane.

Lana: I loved eating sticky rice all over Laos.

3. Which visits did you prefer?

Naema: I loved visiting the Textile museum in Vientiane because I got to do some hands-on weaving and learned more about indigo dyeing (I had already learned a lot at the summer camp in Georgia).

I also liked visiting the Mekong elephant sanctuary park in Pak Beng.

Lana: I loved visiting the elephant park because we saw them take a bath and eat bananas.

4. Cite some differences with Europe and North America

Naema: There’s stands where you can buy fresh juices everywhere. My favorite was mango-dragon fruit in Luang Prabang.

In Southeast Asia, when you go to the bathroom the toilet paper needs to go in the trash can. There’s also water sprayers that we can use to rinse our butts.

5. What else did you like?

Naema: I loved everything in Laos except the cold in Nong Khiaw and Pak Beng. It was 45 degrees F at night and we had to wear several layers of clothes to stay warm.

Lana: I liked hiking up the mountains in Nong Khiaw and Vangvieng.

6. Would you like to go back?

Naema: Yes I would love to!

Lana: Oh yes!
